Have you always wonder who are those people that claimed to be some famous marketer? What did they do to become famous? Who are those people that they referenced to? Are they a pack of lies or is there some truth in it?

To help solve that I’m starting a project that everyone can contribute – ProNetizen.

Based on the Wikipedia concept, the objective of this project to collect together information about a particular online Marketer, an online Product, an online Service and Websites.

Through these information, it is hoped that newcomers to online marketing will be better equiped to make a better, well informed decision.

My First Performancing advertiser

Since adding Performancing Partner to my sites less than 2 weeks ago, I got my first advertiser on FreeBizWare.

This was much faster than I had expected but the real joy was that it was on FreeBizWare. I’d alway maintained that FreeBizWare is one of the better blog that I had done. Text Link Ads however does not seem to think so and rejected the site a few times.

One thing about Performancing that I do not understand is how they set their auto pricing. Every once in a while I recieve emails informing me that my site has been priced. What was more mysterious was that I sold this first ads for $1 (!) and almost immediate after I approved it, most of my sites were increased to $25.

Well, I’m pretty excited and I hope my $1 advertiser get some business from the ads.

Performancing introduces new revenue source

Performancing introduces Performancing Publisher Partners, offering bloggers yet another revenue source.

On the first look, the payout also look much more generous than others such as Text Link Ads or LinkWorth.

Publisher take 70% of advertising revenue your blog generates.
Performancing takes 30%
Publisher take 5% of income generated by any publisher or advertiser referred

On the other hand, the Performancing Publisher program is not a text link program but advertising, so it should be comparable with Text Link Ads terms.

The Performancing Publisher is also be comparable with Adsense since it is not contextual. Advertiser select blogs from the Partner network to advertise on them.

The Partner payouts for referrals is an attractive feature because it generates residual income over time. Residual income really helps when trying to create income over time by decoupling the revenue stream from your action.

In the face of success one can get overjoyed and did nothing, much to the detriment of the bigger success.

This was exactly what’s happening to me.

I’ thrilled to announce another month of beating target. Yet at the same time, this is a month that I had done the least. Personal work not withstanding, I had actually slacked in terms of updating my blogs, such as this.

Over the last 2 months I had stopped launching new sites as initally planned. (The original plan was to launch a new site every 2 weeks.)

Plans to build upon the existing sites were developed but never executed.

Just to recap, my goal was to achieve $1000 online revenue by end of 2006. This months revenue was $375. Based on extrapolation, the target ahead of me are

Oct: $520
Nov: $721
Dec: $1000

September is another great month for revenue. What was more amazing is that without doing anything (I confess) revenue grew by 65%, beating the 61% last month! At this rate, we would need an average growth of 39% over the next 3 month to achieve my target.

The frustrating things is I am still sorting when right and how I can turn this knowledge into a duplicatable model. This would certainly be another level of breakthrough.

Traffic wise September isn’t that great a month. In fact traffic seems to have stagnant for all sites except freebizware.com.

The coming months will be tough but I am looking forward to make it happen!

Review of week 31 – 32 & 33 – 34

Review of week 31 – 32 (31 Jul – 13 Aug) & 33 – 34 (14 Aug – 27 Aug)

When you don’t see much activity on a site it can mean either one of two things – 1. the owner had given up; or 2. the owner had been busy with other (more important) things.

In the case of Seeking Revenue, you can be sure that this owner had not given up. And yes I was busy with other things. Things outside of the online world – work and life in general.

Still August is a great month. Revenue for August grew by 61% better than the 49% target last month. As a result the average growth rate has eased to 45% until the end of year. Of course I will still be pushing as hard as possible.

Traffic is a mixed bag. Not much improvement for most. I am going to do more submission and directories to see if that helps.

Much to cheer about on the revenue front. I took away the huge upfront investment to make the cumulative graph look positive.

Review of week 29 – 30

Review of week 29 – 30 (17 Jul – 30 Jul)

No site lanuched in the last 2 weeks. The focus had been on increasing the performance of existing sites.

Result are mixed. Overall however, July is positive.

Revenue for July. Revenue grew by 40% in July. Doing a goal seek in OpenOffice Calc, I work out that the average revenue growth rate until the end of year must be 49% to reach my goal.

In terms of Adsense, revenue grew by 83% more than the 59% target set last month.

Looks like things are on target!

Traffic. No major improvement in traffic. How do I improve traffic? This will be my focus this month.

Review of week 27 – 28 (3 Jul – 16 Jul)

The last 2 weeks I launched Free Biz Ware. A blog focusing on using free and opensource softwares in business. It is mirrors my real life using of such softwares in my own business.

The going is getting tough. I am faced with a dilemma.

Do I continue to start new sites which does not contribute much and takes a lot of energy?

Or do I put the energy into driving up the traffic and revenue of existing sites?

Revenue had gone up as a result of some optimization.

Traffic had when down overall, a cause for concern.

Very slowly increasing. This motorcycle blog is headed the right direction. The challenge now is to pick up the pace.

Traffic leveling. Over the months traffic had dropped. My biggest concern right now as it is by far the biggest revenue contributor at 70%.

The only consolation is that Seek Revenue is growing. Nice.

Review of week 25 – 26

Review of week 25 – 26 (19 Jun – 2 Jul)

A lot of attention was put on tweaking the preformance in the last 2 weeks. The result, I pleased to report, was an improvement in conversion. I will detail more of my finding in another post.

Traffic is still building up. A good sign. I am still constantly looking for ways to increase traffic.

Revenue has improved as a result of the optimization mentioned above. Sites started a few months ago are starting to contribute. That is a good sign as well.

Total revenue grew by 114% compared to May. In Adsense term, the growth was 48%. My multiple income stream strategy is working well.

Using the spreadsheet, I did a goal seek to work out the rate of Adsense revenue growth to achieve $1000 at the end of the year. Turn out that the rate is 59%. Barely within reach.

I really need to ramp up much harder in order to reach the goal.

Review of week 23 – 24 (5 Jun – 18 Jun)

Another review time. Boy, time flies fast.

Almost half a year gone and I’m not even close to half way near my target. This is discouraging.

What did I do wrong or did not do?

Traffic steady increase although some sites looks like tapering. Building traffic would be my focus on the coming weeks.

Revenue shows a major improvement after I tweaked my ads positioning. Remember, sharpen your saw, a little learning can pay back lots.

Over week 23-24, I was busy with the launch of an opensource project – Openology. The aim of this project is to create a platform for integrating other opensource projects.

I’m committing resource beyond my personal time on this project so I do not want to consider the revenue (if any) from this project. But let’s see how things turns out.

The desired effect however is to leverage on the product of this project. In the longer term this project might also be the bridge between my online and offline activities.

Review of week 21 – 22 (22 May – 4 Jun)

Another fortnightly update. This 2 weeks I’m gradually transiting another blog into operation.

Drop by Invest Insight for a look. It talks about my investment experiences.

Traffic for all sites is increasing with this site (Seeking Revenue) gaining the most in percentage terms.

Revenue is showing decline as I continue to figure out how to transform traffic to revenue. It does seem like people are getting immune to Adsense.
